A New Year Begins: Quiet Reflections on Starting Again

  The New Year arrives quietly. The clock changes, the date turns, and suddenly we are standing in a fresh space. The noise from the night before fades, and what remains is a simple question: What do we carry with us into this year? New Year’s Day is not always loud or exciting. For many people, it is calm. Some wake up tired. Some  wake up  hopeful. Some feel proud of making it through another year. Others feel unsure, still holding the weight of what didn’t go as planned. All of these feelings belong here. As kids, the New Year felt like a promise. We believed that everything could reset overnight. As adults, we learn that change does not happen all at once. It happens slowly, through choices, habits, and moments we return to again and again. Still,  the New Year matters . It gives us a pause.
